Answer
· What does HTML stand for and what does it do?
HTML stands for Hyper Text Markup Language. Html makes up every web page you see. It is a series of tags and symbols that are translated by your browser into readable documents.
HTML is composed of tags. These tags make up the language. <html> is the opening tag for the html code. Every html tag has an opening < and a closing > with the code in the middle.
A group of the known as the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) develop a set of standards for html and other web languages. If your website complies with all of their standards, your site is considered valid. If you page is not valid, it may load slowly and incorrectly. They offer a free validator at http://validator.w3.org/
Validation is important because it shows how dedicated you are and it can improve the display of your site.
