Flash
Flash is a very nice program that you can create animations and powerful
graphics and presentations. Flash is not for the faint of heart. It has a fairly
steep learning curve and can be a little bit confusing at times. Once you get
the basics with some of the included tutorials, it will be no problem. I am a
self taught flash user.
On the other hand, Flash can create some stunning effects and presentations.
Many games and whole sites are designed in flash. Flash uses a technique
called motion tweening and key framing to create animations.
You select an object, set it as an object, set a key frame, then drag it to a
new location and you have created an animation.
Flash allows you to create more compelling designs with built-in filter effects
like drop shadow, blur, glow, bevel, gradient bevel, and color adjust.
Flash also has a revolutionary new font rendering engine that provides clear,
highest-quality font rendering. FlashType makes small fonts look amazingly
clear and greatly improves readability. You can choose from several options
for font rendering, each optimized for different use cases. Optimize font
rendering with the new custom anti-aliasing feature in Flash Professional.
Flash also includes ActionScript. This allows you to create on click, on load,
and other actions as your movie plays. It makes it more interactive. You can
create games and movie actions with action script.
I think flash is a very nice program and it is fun to design in. It may be a little
hard to learn, but it is worth it. We have some basic flash tutorials here.
