Tutorials - Tween 2

Motion Tweens (Continued)

Back to Tutorials

This is you second lesson in motion tweening. I showed you how to make a simple animation. You learned to make an object move. Now, we are going to learn how to transform an object. We will make an object change size. This time we will get a little deeper as I describe things to you. You'll know a lot by the time we finish this tutorial.

Ok, first we need to create the object that we will make change size. Lets draw a large rectangle. Your stage should look something like this:

Ok, so we have our square and we are going to make it change size. First, we need to do some things to make our movie easier to track. In the last tutorial we didn't worry with these steps but know you know more so we can. On your timeline, you see something that says layer one. Double click it and change the layer name to Square1. Now we have named our layer and we can keep track of it better. Next, lets click Window>Panels>Align. Click the "to stage button" and click Horizontal center and vertical center. Now our square in centered in our movie.

Next, We right click frame 15 and click insert frames. Now we have 15 frames to work in. Then click frame 1 again. Select our object and click insert > Create motion tween. Next, click frame 15 and select our square. Now click Window> Panels> Transform. Click the constrain text box and type 50% in the height and width box. Now hit enter to apply our changes. Then click Control>Play Movie.

You movie should look like this:

You just made an object decrease in size.
